Torrevieja Pub Guide
Murphys On The Park
Located on Calle San Policarpo, near the Park of the Nations.
Our local, this is a big bar located in Edificio Europa II and
is wholly Irish owned. The service is great, there is regular
entertainment including bands. They need a big screen TV for the
footy but who knows? This is a busy Irish British bar and is
good to chat. Drinks are dearer than Spanish bars. Also they
have a new pool table, 1 euro a game.
The Thirsty Monk
Adjacent to Bar Carlos on the site of the Friday market.
A nice tiny Irish bar, that regularly holds karaoke and the
like. The bar cannot fit many in but has a unique atmosphere all
the same. We were treated to Seamus and Paddy (not a joke)
singing "I've got a brand new combined harvester" in a broad
Irish accent, its memories like that you remember always. Worth
a visit if only on route to somewhere else.
San Francisco bar
Located on Calle ?
This bar is purely Spanish and has seating outside, it is great
to go when the Anglo Irish bars are closed, the beer is so
cheap!!!!. A good place to practice your Spanish.
The Underground bar
Located on Calle Montesinos.
What a bar, rather southern in its feel (for obvious reasons).
This has a great round of entertainment. The DJ dressed as a
convict is great, there is dancing, pool, karaoke, sitting out
and food. A must. Drinks are averagely priced. There is a pool
table.
Bar 103
Located on the beach front directly in front of the end of Calle
Montesinos. At the back of super market Dial Prix.
A good British bar with food and drink whilst watching the
Mediterranean flow in front of you. Sometimes I believe there is
entertainment in the evening. Service is good prices are
average. A good breakfast is served here and next door at "surf
n turf".
Corre Caminos (Road Runners)
Located on the Avda. De las Haberneras near the sea end.
A good Mexican type saloon bar, full of Hispanic characters.
Good service, reasonable prices. A pool table and a quiz machine
try and beat my score if you can. (Al n Sal)
Monroes
Located on Calle Caballero de Rodas about 100 yards further
towards Alicante from the main church.
This is an unusual nighttime disco bar based on the theme of
Marilyn Monroe, there are pictures & memorabilia everywhere. It
is British owned and is a very late bar, personally I have never
seen it close. The bar plays an unusual mix of remixed classics
from the 70s-90s very loudly. There is also a quiz machine and
pool table. Well worth a visit. Drinks are averagely priced.
El Paso
Located on Avda. De Valencianos next to a Chinese restaurant and
a car main dealership.
This bar is truly American in origin, it is another saloon bar.
The drinks are pricey but you do get free peanuts!! I like this
bar and it has a band on Thursdays. The bar is full of American
memorabilia. Individual bar and good on a route.
The Lounge bar
Located on Avda de Valencianos on the exit from Torrevieja, past
the needle monument and near the Mercadona supermarket.
A bit of Benidorm in Torrevieja, this bar boasts entertainment
every night, Ricky Valance was there last year! Comedians,
singers, karaoke, Premiership football matches. This bar is a
little out of town but well worth a call.
Bar Carlos
Located near the Friday Market.
This bar is famous for the cocktail sequence on Twos Country
with Tim Grundy. It has a lovely patio area, a big bar area and
is popular with Brits and Spanish alike. This bar has all
football matches and serves good but plain food. Service is very
good , and the prices are average.
Bar Uno
Located on Avda de la Purisima 61 near the Indian Palace.
This bar is British and is quite good for a chat. There is a
pool table and they show footie on the TV. The Sunday lunch is
very good. Owners are Alan and Toni.
Shirelles Karaoke bar
Located on Avda. De Dr Gregorio Maranon at the rear of Playa de
Acequion.
A lovely light and well fitted out bar. Run by two girls, this
bar is great, they are both good singers. If the bar gets busy,
which I have to say I have not yet seen it could be great!
Service by a young lad was poor and prices were average. There
is an Indian across the road to make up the full night out!
The Torretta strip
Located on Urbanisation Torretta III which is located to the
rear of Torrevieja town directly behind the Parque of the
Naciones (about 15 mins ).
Here you will find a group of bars that are a mixture of
Brit/Spanish, I could imagine some people who live locally never
venture out of this area as there are places for everything, a
supermarket, restaurants, bars etc.
The Plough, is a large welcoming bar/restaurant that is popular
with the Brits, the Menu del Dia is very good and the steaks are
excellent. The veranda is a nice sit out place and I believe
they have BBQs every Saturday night. There is also a pool table.
Shanes bar, run by classic friendly scousers this bar is another
Brit haunt and is good for a bit of chatter. Also the food from
the restaurant (particularly the ribs) looks fantastic.
Bar el Gordo, I think this is a play on words as this means fat
in Spanish and the bar is long and thin, good bar for a chat and
the quiz on Thursdays is a good one. This bar has been featured
on TV.
KC's bar seems very well attended good for a chat, drink is very
reasonable. There is a quiz but check the day.
The Steak House offers good steaks at reasonable prices and has
a constant smell of BBQ, which is very tempting. In 2002 they
had an excellent party for Halloween for the kids it was great!
Onkel Ottos famous Bavarian type restaurant. I have yet to
indulge.
Flower of Scotland this bar is small but very friendly, the
landlord being the nicest I met on one of my many trips, it pays
to be nice to El Al. The food looks great, particularly a
chicken dish they were serving that had enough to feed three.
The 24 Hour bar
Located towards the bottom (near the sea) of Calle Madrid, look
out for Hotel Madrid. The bar is next to the garish ice cream
parlour on the next block.
When all else fails there is always 24hr bar, as suggested this
opens 24hours a day and is a very typical Spanish bar in every
other way. When all the other bars close go there with your
amigos and drink til dawn. This is not the bars real name!
La Cantina
Located on the paseo near the harbour walkway and the Burger
King.
This bar is another long thin saloon type bar, totally Cuban as
the name suggests there are links with Cuba and Torrevieja,
sailors, gold, South America, need I say any more. This bar is a
Hispanic disco bar and later on you will see them dance the
samba, very cultural and fun. Be warned the drinks are dear, but
I am not sure whether there is a scale depending on how rich
your country of origin is !
Bar Street
Located on Calle Heraclio and the surrounding streets. Find
Keeper bar near the "Old man of the sea" monument and the
walkway and you have made it.
There are dozens of disco bars here. The area is growing every
time I come. They are mostly themed disco bars for 18-30s, pre
dominantly Spanish, no boobs and bums exposure here, sorry lads.
The bars are a good night out but be warned they do not get
going til after twelve.
Here you will find Nina Bonitas, Simpsons, Pajero Loco (mad
bird, how apt), Kennedys, Neo, Magani, Wind and Rain (under
ground disco), Bar Antigua, and so many more its difficult to
name all.
The Harp stands out as the true Irish bar there and they do
karaoke etc.
In this area you can dance, talk on outside tables, drink
yourself to oblivion and party on, and get a kebab for the way
home. PROBABLY DEAREST AREA FOR DRINK! (But hey we are on our
hols!)
Pacha and KKO night clubs
Located on an Industrial estate immediately to the rear of the
town, you cannot miss these SUPER CLUBS, as when they are open
there are searchlights in the sky to bring all comers to the
party.
They were moved here to avoid noise and congestion. These only
get going after 1 at night, so they are really for the party
animals. They hold regular foam parties and I believe are great.
Pacha is a sister club to the famous Ibiza party club.
The Bell
Located on Calle Caballero de Rodas, a couple of hundred yards
from the church square going towards Alicante.
Under new management since November 2003, newly refurbished and
open as early as 9am except Sundays. They serve breakfast, lunch
and have an extensive dinner menu for the evenings.
Click here to read more details about The Bell.
Café Central
Located in the central church square namely Plaza de la
Constitution.
A great place to eat and drink in the afternoons. The food is
great, the patatas Bravas being the best I have ever tasted. The
menu is extensive and is all quality. You can drink coffee or
something stronger and watch the world go by. Service is good
and the prices are fair. Internally the walls are covered in
scarves of football teams from around the world.
Corkeys Irish bar
Located within a stones throw of Bar Carlos near the Friday
market.
This bar is a good Irish bar, plenty of chattering and good bar
food. There are a few tables outside and an amusing set of
regulars.
Bar Rendezous
Located opposite Corkeys Irish bar.
This bar is run by a UK expat couple. A good friendly bar with
many Brits. The Sunday night quiz is great but do not put a
silly name as your team name as this will not be tolerated!
Brian the bar man is a star! They also do food but I have no
experience of this (c'mon I would be the size of a small donkey
by now) . The beer prices are very reasonable.

Bar Rendezvous.
The Galeria, Tris Tras, Lancelot, and The Facultidad.
Located on Avda de las Habaneras about 200 yards from the bus
depot, and about 500 yards from the sea end of the Avda.
Late night disco bars/underground clubs, very late and very
Spanish not for the faint hearted. The Galeria is popular with
Brit/Irish bar workers and is probably the best one to visit (at
about 3am). Good bars but pricey for Spain so get tanked up in
the cheaper bars, you have been warned.
IK Mullins Irish Bar
Located on Calle ? can be found by walking down Avda. de las
Habaneras.
This was the first Irish bar in town (although it is really
Spanish). It is a big bar, with good fittings and good
atmosphere. There is seating outside and good food. The service
is excellent with Brits and Irish youngsters as waiters. They
screen the football and have regular groups as entertainment.
Booze is dear!
Coral Island
Located as the first beach bar on Playa de Acequion from the
Torre end.
A frontline beach bar, that is welcoming and fun. The bar is
good when you are on the beach and need a drink or a snack.
Prices are reasonable and so is the food.
Shirleys Bar
Located on Calle San Miguel de las Salinas, at the far end past
the VW garage.
Shirley is a scouser, and is very friendly, I went in alone and
vowed to return as she cares for her customers so everyone feels
welcome. I believe this was one of the first UK bars in Torre. A
nice local. With a UK pool table.
The entertainment complex
Located on the Crevillente road not far from Carrefour on the
way back into Torre town.
Here is the Palacio de la Caribe apparently a nightclub for all
ages, but beware you pay up at the end and prepare for a shock.
There is a casino, KFC, a bowling alley, a cinema, and many
other bars and restaurants. This area is smart and is really
aimed at the Spanish but bowling could keep the kids happy
whilst you have a drink.
Shannons Irish Bar (and the commercials next to it)
Located on the Crevillente road a little past Carrefour on the
left going from Torre town, look out for a chino, and a wooden
fronted Irish bar.
This bar in my opinion is the smartest set up of any Irish bar
in the town, the patio is wooden with original type features and
cast tables, the inside is very smart and must have cost loads.
The service is very good, the prices are ok, and the football TV
screens are great, unhindered by pillars etc. well worth a
visit.
The other bars include:-
The Lemon Tree a new bar set up by Lancastrians who are lovely
and friendly, their bar is reasonably priced and has a nice
sheltered patio that has great winter sun. They make food.
The Chip Shop a true English chippy, I did not go in but the
place was busy (a good sign) and it looked bright and fresh.
They do both sit in or take away.
The row also has a couple of cafes and a pie shop.
Durty Nellys Irish bar
Located on the corner of Mar Baltico and Pola de Siero, near
playa de locos.
Probably the best Irish bar in town. Entertainment, food, big
bar area, English pool, good service. One of my favourites.
Entertainment on most nights and BIG SCREEN FOOTBALL. Sunday
lunch here is hard to beat. I recommend going to watch footy on
a Sunday and have a Sunday lunch, great Sunday out.
The Old Tower
Located on Calle Caballero de Rodas, the street with the main
church on it (about 50 feet past the church).
This bar has been closed for two years, someone has decided to
reopen it, yeah!. It is very smart and another Irish bar. The
food looks good, but I cannot tell you more until it gets going
a little more!!
Jack and Theresas bar
Located centrally on Calle Rambla de Juan Mateo near the Brazil
ferreteria.
A good local with many brits, and a nice (southern) landlady. We
had a couple here and were most welcome
The Missipi Queen
Located on Calle Morera in La Mata, near the park of Molino de
Agua (watermill).
What a place, a real steam ship, land locked with a restaurant
built into it. Fantastic setting, fantastic food, great service.
A total must, even if its just for the experience. the park
along side is also truly beautiful.
My many thanks go to El Al for this very informative, useful and
humorous review of pubs, clubs, bars and restaurants in
Torrevieja.
Places that function as a bar and a restaurant are also shown in
