Torrevieja Restaurant Guide
Sea front restaurants
Restaurant El Muelle
Located on Paseo Juan Aparico.
This restaurant is a cracker, it looks great both inside and
out. The service is efficient; the staff are smart and speak
English. Generally speaking this is an Italian but covers
several nationalities.
The pizzas are to die for and the steaks are good too. It is a
more expensive restaurant but well worth a visit.
The Indian Palace
Located Avda. De la Purisima.
This is a nice walk down the front with a waddle home. This is
the best Indian I have ever had. Very good service coupled with
a great menu. The NAANS are the best. The prices are very
reasonable. Give it a try.
Nan King Chinese Restaurant
Located on Calle Orihuela, at the top near the roundabout and
petrol station.
The best chino I have had, it is very popular and busy. The
service is great. If you took the set menu, you receive a full
bottle of wine and free rice spirit at the end. Stuffed as a pig
for 21 Euros for two including the bottle of wine, how do they
do it?
Bar 103
Located on the beach front directly in front of the end of Calle
Montesinos. At the back of super market Dial Prix.
A good British bar with food and drink whilst watching the
Mediterranean flow in front of you. Sometimes I believe there is
entertainment in the evening. Service is good prices are
average. A good breakfast is served here and next door at Surf n
Turf.
Flamenco dancing whilst you dine
Indian on the beach
Located next door to Bar 103.
A good Indian, especially the daily menu del dia. A bit on the
expensive side for evening food, but worth a visit particularly
during the day for the special. Service good. Menu del dia was 9
Euros for a meal, beer and a chapatti.
La Troika
Located on the Puerto Deportivo Marina International.
The best restaurant in town (in my opinion), located on the
fantastic harbour side, this restaurant has a fantastic menu,
fantastic service, and a real feel of sophistication.
Presentation is second to none. Prices are expensive for Spain
but cheap for UK. You could be in Puerto Banus. A good last
night to remember.
El Charro Negro
Located in Plaza Waldo near the fountain and sandwiched between
a chino and an Italian.
This was my favourite restaurant in town until they put up the
prices! A lovely restaurant with staff dressed in authentic
garb. The interior decoration is great. Service is a little
frosty and prices are now expensive. Mexican food is served here
from Burritos to Chimechangas.
Queen Burger
Located on Rambla de Juan Mateo (town centre).
This, although a fast food bar, is worth it whether for late
night munchies or a snack. It sells burgers (obviously) and
kebabs which are fantastic, they are priced reasonably and are
served in a typically Spanish fast food way.
The Latin Corner
Located on Calle Ramon Gallud number 23.
This is an unusual place but it is quite pleasant. The food is a
cross between Mexican, Spanish and Columbian which makes for
some interesting combos. It is not made for a British palate,
more Hispanic which adds to the charm but makes the meal look
strange but if you tuck in, you will not regret it. Price is
very reasonable and the service was very good.
The Vegetarian Restaurant
Located centrally on the street that runs behind Plaza Waldo.
This restaurant is reputedly run by an Australian, and I can
honestly say it is the best vegetarian restaurant I have
experienced. Price is rather expensive for Spain. This
restaurant is very popular, surprisingly so when you think Spain
is not famous for vegetarianism. My Aussie amigo who visited it,
remarked that he had "an a*** like a didgeridoo" the day after,
probably the roughage!!
Great service and low prices
Restaurant Jaunjos
Located at the bottom of Calle san Policarpo.
From outside this restaurant looks rather sad but inside it is
much better. The food is pretty good; steaks and pizzas seem the
order of the day. The service is excellent, the prices are good.
The Torretta Strip
Located on Urbanisation Torretta III which is located to the
rear of Torrevieja town directly behind the Parque of the
Naciones (about 15 mins ). Here you will find a group of bars
that are a mixture of Brit/Spanish, I could imagine some people
who live locally never venture out of this area as there are
places for everything, a supermarket, restaurants, bars etc.
The Plough, is a large welcoming bar/restaurant that is popular
with the Brits, the Menu del dia is very good and the steaks are
excellent. The veranda is a nice sit out place and I believe
they have BBQs every Saturday night. There is also a pool table.
Shanes bar, run by classic friendly scousers this bar is another
Brit haunt and is good for a bit of chatter. Also the food from
the restaurant (particularly the ribs) looks fantastic.
Bar el Gordo, I think this is a play on words as this mean fat
in Spanish and the bar is long and thin, good bar for a chat and
the quiz on Thursdays is a good one. This bar has been featured
on tv.
KC's bar, seems very well attended good for a chat, drink is
very reasonable. There is a quiz but check the day.
The Steak House offers good steaks at reasonable prices and has
a constant smell of BBQ, which is very tempting. In 2002 they
had an excellent party for Halloween for the kids it was great!
Onkel Ottos famous Bavarian type restaurant. I have yet to
indulge.
Flower of Scotland this bar is small but very friendly, the
landlord being the nicest I met on one of my many trips, it pays
to be nice to El Al. The food looks great, particularly a
chicken dish they were serving that had enough to feed three.
Swagat Indian restaurant
Located at 68 Avda. Dr. Gregorio Maranon (at the back of playa
de Acequion).
Good Indian, service good prices average worth a visit, but
personally I prefer the Indian Palace.
The Miramar (or Seesea)
Located on the harbour on Paseo Vista Alegre.
This is a top place, loads of tables on a covered veranda, their
food is great and so is the atmosphere over looking the med and
the boats in the harbour. It is great on Sundays when Spanish
families come out to play! There are two pool tables.
Traditional fish and chips too
Stefans Restaurant
Located at the sea end of Avda de las Habaneras.
This restaurant is a rave restaurant with food from all over the
world. Definitely more big meal than snack. An excellent night
out. Prices dearer than norm but a must if you are a "foodie".
Meson de la Costa
Located centrally just 5 mins walk from the Burger King on the
front on the street behind.
This typically Spanish restaurant has to be seen from every
angle to be appreciated, it is an amazing architectural
building. This is a waxy ham paradise, severed limbs are
bountiful! Ask to see their wine cellar, it is huge and holds
wine floor to ceiling. I saw a barrel of octopi just sat ready
to be cooked at the doorway. An experience. The service is
excellent and the price is dear for Spain.
The Bell
Located on Calle Caballero de Rodas, a couple of hundred yards
from the church square going towards Alicante.
Under new management since November 2003, newly refurbished and
open as early as 9am except Sundays. They serve breakfast, lunch
and have an extensive dinner menu for the evenings.
Click here to read more details about The Bell.
Café Central
Located in the central church square namely Plaza de la
Constitution.
A great place to eat and drink in the afternoons. The food is
great, the patatas Bravas being the best I have ever tasted. The
menu is extensive and is all quality. You can drink coffee or
something stronger and watch the world go by. Service is good
and the prices are fair. Internally the walls are covered in
scarves of football teams from around the world.
Chino Hong Kong
Located on the road running from Plaza Waldo towards Calle Ramon
Gallud.
The first chino we visited on our first stay. The prices were so
cheap we had to ask if the set meal was each or for both, to our
great surprise it was for two. You, as is usual in Spanish
chinos, get a free bottle of wine, and spirits afterwards. Great
centrally located Chinese. Service great. Prices greater.
Bar Antiguo
Located up the road from the above Chino.
A British haunt that you have to queue for. It sells all home
made meals, including favourites, such as steak and kidney pie,
cheese pie, fish and chips etc. a delight in a town of foreign
cuisine. A Brit and a Scandi run it.
Sands Bistro
If you find the columns, sort of roman totem poles on the front
and walk back two streets you will find the Sands. A wholly
British concern this bar is difficult to get into and you can
tell why when you eat the typically British dishes on offer.
Excellent in every respect, including prices.
Corkeys Irish bar
Located within a stones throw of Bar Carlos near the Friday
market.
This bar is a good Irish bar, plenty of chattering and good bar
food. There are a few tables outside and an amusing set of
regulars.
Bar Rendezous
Located opposite Corkeys Irish bar.
This bar is run by a UK expat couple. A good friendly bar with
many Brits. The Sunday night quiz is great but do not put a
silly name as your team name as this will not be tolerated!
Brian the bar man is a star! They also do food but I have no
experience of this (c'mon I would be the size of a small donkey
by now) . The beer prices are very reasonable.

IK Mullins Irish Bar
Located on Calle ? can be found by walking down Avda. de las
Habaneras.
This was the first Irish bar in town (although it is really
Spanish). It is a big bar, with good fittings and good
atmosphere. There is seating outside and good food. The service
is excellent with Brits and Irish youngsters as waiters. They
screen the football and have regular groups as entertainment.
Booze is dear!
Coral Island
Located as the first beach bar on Playa de Acequion from the
Torre end.
A frontline beach bar, that is welcoming and fun. The bar is
good when you are on the beach and need a drink or a snack.
Prices are reasonable and so is the food.
Durty Nellys Irish Bar
Located on the corner of Mar Baltico and Pola de Siero, near
Playa de Locos.
Probably the best Irish bar in town. Entertainment, food, big
bar area, English pool, good service. One of my favourites.
Entertainment on most nights and BIG SCREEN FOOTBALL. Sunday
lunch here is hard to beat. I recommend going to watch footy on
a Sunday and have a Sunday lunch, great Sunday out.
The entertainment complex
Located on the Crevillente road not far from Carrefour on the
way back into Torre town.
Here is the Palacio de la Caribe apparently a nightclub for all
ages, but beware you pay up at the end and prepare for a shock.
There is a casino, KFC, a bowling alley, a cinema, and many
other bars and restaurants. This area is smart and is really
aimed at the Spanish but bowling could keep the kids happy
whilst you have a drink.
Shannons Irish Bar (and the commercials next to it)
Located on the Crevillente road a little past Carrefour on the
left going from Torre town, look out for a chino, and a wooden
fronted Irish bar.
This bar in my opinion is the smartest set up of any Irish bar
in the town, the patio is wooden with original type features and
cast tables, the inside is very smart and must have cost loads.
The service is very good, the prices are ok, and the footy
screens are great, unhindered by pillars etc. well worth a
visit.
The other bars include:-
The Lemon Tree a new bar set up by Lancastrians who are lovely
and friendly, their bar is reasonably priced and has a nice
sheltered patio that has great winter sun. They make food.
The Chip Shop a true English chippy, I did not go in but the
place was busy (a good sign) and it looked bright and fresh.
They do both sit in or take away.
The row also has a couple of cafes and a pie shop.
The Old Tower
Located on Calle Caballero de Rodas, the street with the main
church on it (about 50 feet past the church).
This bar has been closed for two years, someone has decided to
reopen it, yeah!. It is very smart and another Irish bar. The
food looks good, but I cannot tell you more until it gets going
a little more!!
Jack and Theresas Bar
Located centrally on Calle Rambla de Juan Mateo near the Brazil
ferreteria.
A good local with many brits, and a nice (southern) landlady. We
had a couple here and were most welcome
The Missipi Queen
Located on Calle Morera in La Mata, near the park of Molino de
Agua (watermill).
What a place, a real steam ship, land locked with a restaurant
built into it. Fantastic setting, fantastic food, great service.
A total must, even if its just for the experience.the park along
side is also truly beautiful.
My many thanks go to El Al for this very informative, useful and
humorous review of pubs, clubs, bars and restaurants in
Torrevieja.
Places that function as a bar and a restaurant are also shown in
